Below are some of Tuesday’s questionable statements and decisions:

  • In a debate between Colorado Senate candidates, Ken Buck (R-CO) said that the “backward” Afghan people are incapable of building an industrialized nation and democracy.
  • As a County District Attorney, Buck appears to have refused to try a rape case and apparently told the victim not to seek alternative counsel because the victim didn’t have a strong enough evidence. According to an audio tape of the consultation, Buck told the victim the jury would see the charges as her “buyer’s remorse.”
  • A controversial TV commercial by Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle (R-NV) includes the terms “illegal” and “illegal aliens” in red font multiple times and contrasts the image of three menacing-looking Latinos with a group of friendly white high school graduates.
  • Angle was also slammed by Dearborn, Michigan Mayor Jack O’Reilly over her preposterous claim that Islamic Sharia Law has taken over the heavily Muslim city.
  • Ohio Congressional candidate Tom Ganley (R-OH) is being sued for allegedly denying a woman a volunteer position because she rejected his sexual advances. Because of the case, Ganley’s campaign canceled all broadcast TV advertisements for the remainder of the race.
  • West Virginia Senate candidate John Raese (R-WV) supports completely abolishing the federal minimum wage, saying it has not resolved any problems in the past 50 years.
  • Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin continued to defend her “death panel” argument against the health care bill in an interview with Newsmax, despite it being titled the 2009 “Lie of the Year” by Politifact.
  • It was revealed that during a town hall meeting in March, New York Gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino (R-NY) was asked how he would respond to US attorney general Eric Holder if Holder decided to try terrorists in Manhattan. Paladino’s response: “F*** him.”
  • Ann Coulter attempted to convince Bill O’Reilly that New York Gubernatorial candidate Paladino was only condemning gay left-wing activists, and that his anti-gay speech will support his campaign.
  • It was revealed that New York Senate candidate Joe DioGuardi (R-NY) was paid as a consultant for Medical Capital Corporation, a subsidiary of Medical Capital Holdings. Medical Capital Holdings apparently ran a Ponzi scheme by taking $1 billion from investors and paying for mega yachts. The case is currently being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
