Marc R. Stanley, Chairman of the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC), and Ira N. Forman, Executive Director of NJDC, released the following statement:

President-elect Barack Obama made a strong choice with Arne Duncan to serve as the Secretary of Education. Duncan’s record of success as superintendent of Chicago’s public schools and his reputation for hands-on leadership will serve him well in tackling the urgent needs of America’s education system.

With this selection, Obama shows that his administration will immediately work to secure America’s future by improving the education our children receive.
