Ira N. Forman, Executive Director of the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC), released the following statement:

Today’s passage of the economic stimulus bill through the Senate is a significant step towards America’s economic recovery.  In a time when the United States is facing the most severe economic downturn in recent history, President Barack Obama has shown strong leadership by working to create a bold plan to lead America’s economy out of this crisis. This plan is multifaceted in its approach, as it will create or save millions of American jobs, provide tax relief, and invest in our long-term economic security.

The National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) applauds the Senate’s passage of this bill and we urge a quick and responsible effort by both parties to agree on a final version of the economic stimulus bill for the President.
