Some Jokes Just Aren’t Funny

NJDC — September 18, 2013 – 12:38 pm | Election 2013 | Have They No Shame? | Republicans Comments (0) Add a comment

Some jokes just aren’t funny - especially insensitive jokes that promote racial or religious stereotypes. The National Jewish Democratic Council believes that the anti-Semitic “joke” made at a Ken Cuccinelli event yesterday was deeply disturbing and offensive.

We are pleased that Mr. Cuccinelli has apologized for his supporter’s inappropriateness, but we remain concerned that the Tea Party audience enjoyed the joke and that this type of insensitivity seems to permeate Republican gatherings in Virginia this year.  We urge the Virginia Republican Party and the Cuccinelli campaign to show leadership in this regard and promote respect and sensitivity for people of all races and religions at future events.
