The New Republic has compiled a list of 2010’s lesser-known candidates who have made ridiculous statements or questionable decisions. The list includes:

  • Florida House candidate Allen West (R-FL), who repeatedly uses abusive Holocaust rhetoric to attack his opponents.
  • North Carolina House candidate Bill Randall (R-NC), who believes that the Gulf oil spill is the result of collusion between BP and the Obama Administration.
  • New Mexico House candidate Tom Mullins (R-NM), who floated the idea of putting landmines along the U.S.-Mexico border.
  • Missouri House candidate Ed Martin (R-MO), who believes that government bailouts are an encroachment on religious freedom.
