NJDC Strongly Condemns Outrageous Israel Statements by Conn. Sen. Candidate Lee Whitnum

NJDC — April 6, 2012 – 1:04 pm | Comments (0) Add a comment

The National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) strongly condemns the outrageous comments regarding support for Israel made by Connecticut Senate candidate Lee Whitnum—a perennial fringe candidate who has failed to achieve meaningful support in any of her recent contests.

Whitnum’s conspiracy-laden comments about her opponents have no place in our political discourse and deserve condemnation in their own right. Further, her statements and actions regarding the U.S.-Israel relationship are detached from reality and are similar to the record of anti-Israel Republican presidential candidate Representative Ron Paul (R-TX).

NJDC takes our commitment to condemning this sort of language and behavior very seriously—unlike certain Republicans who have remained silent about Paul’s influence on the 2012 GOP presidential primaries, or the seemingly constant stream of inflammatory, sexist, and Holocaust-laden statements made by Representative Allen West (R-FL), among others.

NJDC will continue to monitor Whitnum’s participation in the Connecticut Senate race and act as needed. However, judging by the condemnations from credible candidates in the race, Whitnum’s fringe status has been firmly cemented.
