The right wing hatchet brigade is at it again over President Barack Obama’s administration’s recent statements at the United Nations.
Yet one piece that they’ve ignored is the administration’s doubts over the Goldstone report. Obama’s U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice stated that she has “serious concerns” about the Goldstone Report’s findings and with its call to investigate Israeli leaders.
During the campaign, American Thinker’s News Editor, Ed Lasky, attacked Obama and Rice and labeled them as anti-Israel. According to Lasky:
But despite Lasky’s insistence that Obama and Rice harbor anti-Israel views, this myth has been widely debunked by many, including by Representative Robert Wexler (D-FL) in The Jerusalem Post. (Wexler even addressed the specific claim about Rice and Kerry. He showed it to be completely false)
Critics of Obama’s approach to Israel and the Middle East should think about these questions:
Does ignoring calls for prosecuting those responsible for Israel’s defense seem like an anti-Israel action, especially when activists and intellectuals are calling for Obama to act?
Or how about working for Israeli-Palestinian peace? Is Obama approaching from a lopsided anti-Israel viewpoint? Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu doesn’t think so.
Or how about Obama’s approach to the Iranian nuclear threat? Do they think that Obama is not taking it seriously? This morning Obama, along with France and the United Kingdom, put it at the top of the G-20’s agenda. And, speculation is circulating that Russia will assist with the next round of sanctions against Iran because of Obama’s recent decisions regarding missiles in Eastern Europe.
It’s clear. Obama and his team support Israel. Why can’t the right wing accept this and stop their baseless smears against Obama?
Lasky and his ilk should stop narrating this libelous fairytale and start basing their analyses on Obama’s actual policies and actions.
