Matthew Brooks, Executive Director of the Republican Jewish Coalition, has written a new blog that repeats the dispelled “snub” that surfaced during Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s last visit with President Barack Obama.
Apparently he has not heard what Israel’s leaders have had to say on the subject.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Dr. Michael B. Oren, have both condemned the baseless reports of the snub rumor. Oren explained in great detail that reports about the snub were patently false and Netanyahu addressed it twice during press conferences with his cabinet.
NJDC distributed a fact sheet that was approved and sanctioned by the Embassy regarding this smear. Apparently though, RJC is still taking the same bogus issues with the Embassy-approved facts as they did in May.
How exactly does RJC think that dismissing, even contradicting, the official words of the Israeli Prime Minister and Ambassador advances the U.S.-Israel relationship?
Today should be regarded as a historic moment for U.S.-Israel relations, not a time for partisan rancor. From confronting Hamas and Iran to the flotilla incident and increasing Israel’s qualitative military edge, President Barack Obama and his Administration have been rock-solid in their support for Israel. RJC must immediately stop using trumped up media reports from the British press to chip away at the solid foundation of cooperation between the Obama Administration and Israel.
